10 Buick St. elevators, toilets having problems

Many living in the Student Residences at 10 Buick St. have had a sinking feeling lately, and it’s not just because of the elevators. Toilets and elevators in the East Tower have recently been the subject of many resident complaints. The 18-floor, two-tower complex is one of the university’s newest and most luxurious dormitories.

Panel: Threat of nuclear attack underestimated

The threat of a nuclear attack from either a terrorist group or rogue nation remains a danger, Harvard University professors and terrorism experts said Thursday night at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. “We have open borders, and experts tell us a nuclear weapon could be delivered in a number of ways,” said Kennedy School Dean David Ellwood.

UMass reg. website crashes, students in disarray

UMass-Amherst’s online registration system crashed last week, causing headaches for the school’s 24,000 students. Many students who had not yet registered for classes were unable to do so, and those who had were unable to find the locations of their classes.

BU students living in prime real estate

An increasing number of Boston University students have moved into off-campus apartments on South Campus in recent years, stealing the valuable and affordable housing that often attracts residents to Boston. The lack of attractive upperclassmen housing and tight security restrictions in most on-campus dormitories have caused more students to move to convenient and affordable areas such as South Campus.

Access streamlined

Gov. Mitt Romney (R) unveiled a new website Thursday that will provide a way for people seeking state support to check their eligibility and apply for programs online. “Our goal is to make the process of accessing benefits and services as easy and efficient as possible,” Romney said.
