A COMEDIAN’S PERSPECTIVE: The karma of punching

I have a strong belief in the existence of karma. That’s why when I punched a kid in the face during my sophomore year of high school, I knew I’d get mine in the end. Then again, I was truly just enforcing karma, or its Irish equivalent: revenge. The infamous punch I’m referring to took place during a Bay High Tennis practice.

While student suicides at New York University or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have shaken those campuses in the past few years, Boston University has been spared these incidents. BU should be commended for providing the nurturing environment and array of mental services that must have resulted in its low suicide rate.

In an attempt to pack more power into each of the state’s voters for the upcoming presidential election, Colorado recently proposed abolishing the winner-takes-all system of giving all its electoral votes to the majority candidate. Instead, the Rocky Mountain State is looking to join Nebraska and Maine in distributing its electoral votes based on the popular vote.

NEWS IN BRIEF: Fewer attend Greek barbecue as rain forces move

The Inter Fraternity and Sorority Council’s attempt to draw prospective Greek members to its annual barbeque was smothered Saturday, as rain forced the event indoors. The barbecue, designed to introduce students to Boston University’s fraternities and sororities, faced a smaller attendance than expected due to the weather and was moved indoors to Sargent Gym.

THE KNOWN UNKNOWN: Biased media may not be such a bad thing

I regret to inform you that you’ve been getting your news from a biased source. Not that you would notice, of course, because you’re a biased reader. I wouldn’t lose too much sleep over it. Sure, there are a lot of people who are very worked up about bias in the news, but partiality in the news is as old as the news itself.
