Letters to the Editor: Flaws in Stroll’s support of killing murderers
Every other week I have shaken my head sadly at the ignorance and hate spewed by Tara Stroll. Reading her column on the death penalty (“The death penalty affirms the value of life,” page 7, Nov. 28), however, I cannot stay silent anymore. Ms. Stroll argues that the death penalty deters crime and lowers murder rates.
Bundling Up in Boston
Wrapped in multiple scarves and somewhat resembling plump marshmallows, students quickly scamper across a brutally cold, snow-covered campus. This is a scene returning Boston University students can easily envision. That cold is swiftly approaching again and the official beginning of winter is less than a month away.
Flaherty to seek 5th year as City Council president
Councilor-At-Large Michael Flaherty said he will seek re-election to the seat of Boston City Council president, although Councilor-At-Large Felix Arroyo did not rule out giving Flaherty a run for his money. The councilors said that final decisions to run in the Council president election in January would not be made until mid-December.
Union forges dean, president relations
After the Boston University Student Union executive board met with university deans and President Robert Brown Nov. 17, Union members said they hope the meeting forged a future of better communication between students and the administration. “This is the first time ever that the entire union e-board, the president and the deans all met together,” Union President Jon Marker said at the group’s Monday night assembly.
BU kicks off World AIDS Week
Students for Camp Heartland kicked off “A Week of Hope” with a four-hour dance marathon at BU Central Monday night. The week honors World AIDS Week though informational and fundraising events sponsored by various Boston University community service groups.
