Progress in the planning
Holding their first General Assembly meeting five weeks into the semester, the Boston University Student Union’s Executive Board said the semester was marked by a lot of planning and research, but did not result in much action. “Well I didn’t have a treasurer for the first month and a half of school,” Union President Jon Marker said.
Boston, a city of entertainment, offers students a variety of outlets
This is the first in a four-part series about how students affect various aspects of Boston’s economy. The college student by nature is a money-spending animal. Craving the internet? You might have an addiction
There isn’t a patch for this addiction. Just a power button. According to some psychiatrists, internet addiction is a psychological disorder. And compulsive away message-checking is just one symptom. Online shoppers at risk for credit fraud
With final exams being held through Dec. 21, Boston University students are left little time to complete – or for some, start – their holiday shopping. But, while the ease of the internet lets students shop without leaving their dorm rooms, it also leaves them more susceptible to the growing trend of identity theft and credit card fraud.
Stolen for the holidays
After the Recording Industry Association of America sued eight Boston University students over the course of the semester for illegal file sharing and took measures to shut down online sharing programs, both students and administrators say that on college campuses, the issue is far from resolved.
