The Lights turn Green
HANOVER, N.H. – Perhaps it was somewhat appropriate that the first half of the Boston University men’s hockey team’s season ended with a bus ride home through the rolling southern section of New Hampshire’s White Mountains. The ride, though it hasn’t been taken by a Terrier team in almost 10 years, had to feel somewhat familiar for this squad, which has struggled through an early season filled with more peaks and valleys than the Himalayas.
Athletes of the Fall – Men
The numbers of Boston University freshman diver Brian Lawler speak for themselves. Lawler has dominated the board in both the one-meter and the three-meter dive since competition began Oct. 22. Over the season’s five opening weeks, Lawler has earned America East Diver of the Week three times.
Athletes of the Fall – Women
Standing out is nothing new to women’s soccer senior forward Meghann Cook. And her illustrious four-year Terrier career was topped off last Friday afternoon, when she was named an NSCAA/adidas Second Team All-American. Cook is just the third Terrier to grab the national honor, and with good reason.
Swim teams claw past Black Bears
The Boston University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams managed a strong start against the University of Maine Saturday, and both teams were able to hold off their opponents down the stretch for much-needed victories. The men defeated the Black Bears, 174-126, to improve to 2-3 on the season, while the women won, 155-126, upping them to a 3-3 record.
India-no
The Indiana University women’s basketball team proved the Indianapolis Colts aren’t the only team who can win at the RCA Dome, defeating the Boston University women’s basketball team Saturday, 62-54. The Hoosiers snapped the Terriers’ five-game winning streak, as they helped Indiana sweep the doubleheader at the Dome.
