Tangle up in Knitting
In recent years, knitting has expanded from senior centers and stereotypical ugly brown-and-tan afghans to college dorm rooms, and a new, vibrant group of knitters using new designs and brightly colored yarn is bringing the craft back into style. Needles can be heard clicking in the back of classrooms, on movie sets and on the T, while many young people use the century-old technique to fill time and keep them busy, much like their older counterparts.
BU student featured on ‘Price is Right’
Are you interested in jet skiing? If so, College of General Studies freshman Dave Barth may be able to help you out. Barth was the lucky winner of a Jet Ski and two scooters on “The Price is Right” over winter break. The episode that he is featured in is airing today at 11 a.
Gov. Romney releases $25.2 billion state budget details
Gov. Mitt Romney announced on Wednesday a 5.3 percent increase to the state budget for the 2007 fiscal year, totaling $25.2 billion, and revealed plans to cut taxes, increase school funding, housing and boost healthcare subsidies. “The priorities are education, health care, municipal aid and jobs,” the governor said at a Statehouse news conference.
Wolff nets 200th win
When Dennis Wolff took over the helm of the Boston University men’s basketball team on April 7, 1994, he was “excited,” despite the fact that the Terriers had undergone four straight losing seasons. “This professionally is a good opportunity and something that I hope to be able to have for a while,” he told The Daily Free Press at the time.
