A look back and a look forward for the Union
After Monday night’s marathon meeting, the Student Union was thrown into mild disarray when the supposed shoe-in candidate for Union secretary did not garner enough votes for approval. The stunning vote count was followed by a joint admission from the Union’s executive board that it violated of the group’s fledgling constitution.
Marker’s choice for secretary fails in Student Union vote
In an unusual defeat for Student Union President Jon Marker, the confirmation of Megan Castellano as Secretary failed by a vote of 10-0-11, with 11 abstentions in an emergency session held Monday night. According to the Constitution, the union needs a simple majority – at least 14 out of 26 assemblymen present last night – to vote in order for a motion to pass.

The questioning should not end with Goldberg
Jon Marker and Jonah Goldberg have settled their disagreement over Marker’s unilateral “decision to allocate $1,700 for a mayoral issues forum in Metcalf Hall on Oct. 13″ (January 23 The Daily Free Press).
