In this final part of the series, Allie Weinberger forgets about crossing T’s and crosses sticks with women’s lacrosse. They’re just lucky, you know? Green and loose, with white stripes sweeping across the side, outlined in black. They don’t cling to your skin or ride up your waist.

Terriers likely to finish second in league

The Boston University women’s lacrosse team finds itself in a surprising role heading into this weekend: spoiler. The Terriers (12-4, 4-1 America East) take on the University of New Hampshire (10-5, 4-1) in their final game of the regular season Saturday.

Last Christmas, my uncle gave me this book: All Those Mornings … At the Post. It chronicles the best columns and stories by one of the Washington Post’s most famed sports columnists, Shirley Povich. It’s a great read, and contains some of the best sports writing I’ve ever seen.

Their last home game brought the Terriers one big first, a refreshing performance on the mound and a defensive play to save the day. Behind Shayne Lotito’s first home run, Brittany Detwiler’s resurgence and Josey Mendez’s diving play, the Boston University softball team gave its seniors a warm sendoff in the home finale with a 4-1 win over Brown University.

Final Word: A lesson in life – and hockey

Life lessons learned while covering 116 (out of 119) Boston University hockey games in 19 rinks over the past three years, watching the Terriers go 61-38-17: Hockey is easily the most difficult team sport from a mental perspective. A team’s frustrated attitude simply doesn’t kill a whole baseball season.
