Washington program focuses on business

Because of a “growing interest in project management training and [Project Management Professional] certification in the government sector,” Boston University plans to expand the program to include process management classes in Washington D.C., according to Corporate Education Center Management Development Programs Director Gina Westcott.

Study examines the role of alcohol education

Boston University’s School of Public Health, through its Join Together program, recently began conducting a survey of K-12 educators to find out what young students are really learning in schools about alcohol and drug misuse. With the support of the New York State United Teachers and the National Educators Association, Join Together surveys information from teachers and administrators across the nation.

Hundreds rally for increased public-education funding

In an effort to increase the state’s investment in education, Stand for Children, an organization of parents working to improve the quality of public education in Massachusetts, rallied Wednesday afternoon in the Boston Commons, citing decreases in state funding each year since 2002.

Nichols to cross Charles to boost alumni relations, development

Harvard University Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Affairs Scott Nichols, who will join the Boston University administration in May, said he became interested in the field of alumni relations after he was the chairman of a gift drive when he was in college.

Feldman, Dicristofaro fined $200 for violating election rules

The Student Union Elections Commission is levying a $200 fine against President-elect Brooke Feldman and Vice-President-elect Mark DiCristofaro, charging them with violating campaign advertising rules. According to an order issued by the SUEC, Feldman and DiCristofaro broke campaign rules by posting more than 356 fliers in Warren Towers several days before they were officially authorized to, giving them an unfair advantage over other candidates.
