Perspective: Marker reflects on two years as Union president
Thank you all. The last two years as your Student Union president have been an amazing time and I could not be happier to have served, or more proud of, the community I had the pleasure to represent. I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on some things I have experienced in hopes that it will help us all to move forward together.
MTA discusses plans to expand the Mass. Turnpike
The Transportation Finance Commission subcommittee on the Turnpike met Thursday morning to discuss possible changes for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and the Turnpike Authority’s future independence and possible expansion of the Massachusetts Turnpike.
Life after the ruling
The concept of gay marriage has ignited intense debates across the country. As the first and only state to legally allow homosexual couples to marry, Massachusetts has made its controversial mark on history. Yet, gay rights were brought to the forefront in Massachusetts over the past several months following two landmark cases.
Deval Patrick asks rivals to come together
In an already heated gubernatorial race to secure a place on the Democratic ballot in November, candidate Deval Patrick has gone out on a limb, asking the other Democratic candidates to agree to a party-line truce as well as refuting rivals’ notions about the economy and taxes.
Wine may be sold in food stores
The Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee held a hearing at the Statehouse on Thursday to debate a bill that would permit food stores to sell wine. The act, which would amend Chapter 138 of the Massachusetts General Laws to allow food stores to seek special “wine at food store” licenses, was introduced through an initiative petition.
