LETTER: Women need more control
n My reaction to Olena Ripnick’s article (“As a majority, women need to stand up and be counted,” Sept. 27, p. 5) can be summed up in one word: Amen! Finally, I read a straightforward, factual argument illustrating how women are ignored and marginalized in our country.
LETTER: Men do not oppress women
n Olena Ripnick’s column regarding females in government (“As a majority, women need to stand up and be counted,” Sept. 27, p. 5) falsely alleged gender oppression with misleading claims and ignorance of the US Constitution. To make matters worse, her ideas were internally incoherent, and she provided no useful answers to the questions she posed.
LETTER: Student tuition should not be used for toilet paper
This is in reference to Matt Baram’s perspective (“Some simple changes to make BU students’ lives better,” Sept. 27, p. 5). When I read your article, I was shocked. For those who missed it, Baram believes Boston University should allot a portion of our tuition to double-quilted toilet paper and soft umbrellas.
LETTER: Advice for Spectrum
n As Co-President of Emerson’s Alliance of Gays, Lesbians, and Everyone (EAGLE), I understand the difficulty of the balancing act of leading students (“Spectrum supports issues,” Sept. 28, p. 10). Indeed, it is a daunting task to keep up membership while still maximizing potential and activities.
LETTER: Response from Chavez
n This is a response letter to Megan Steffen (“A laudatory letter to Venezuelan President Chavez,” Sept. 28, p. 11) by Venezuelan President Hugo Rafael Ch’aacute;vez Fría. Dear Megan Amanda Steffen, Gracias for your letter. I spent a lot of time thinking about what you said, and I’ve decided it’s time to make a change.
