Amy Seaman was named the Player of the Week yesterday. Matt LasekWith the prospect of never playing a game on Jack Barry Field again, Amy Seaman put matters on her own stick. The senior striker scored three goals in two home games to help the Boston University field hockey team secure the No. 1 seed in America East, earning herself conference Player of the Week honors Monday.
Seaman’s two goals in BU’s 3-0 victory over the University of Maine Saturday propelled the Terriers to the top of the conference standings. Seaman also netted a goal in the Terriers’ 4-1 win over Harvard University Wednesday.
The Camp Hill, Penn. native finished the regular season with six goals and 15 points, numbers good enough to place her second and fourth on the team, respectively.
Soccer All-Academics
Marisha Schumacher-Hodge and Stephanie Dreyer each proved they can excel both on the pitch and in the classroom Monday, each getting the nod for the America East Women’s Soccer All-Academic team.
The 11-member squad features a league-high four players from Maine, with BU and Stony Brook University placing a second-best two players on the team.
The All-Academic team is selected based on results both in school and athletics and the athlete must possess a GPA of at least a 3.0.
Dreyer and Schumacher-Hodge both excelled on the soccer field this season. Dreyer started 18 games for the Terriers, notching 12 wins and boasting a miniscule 0.38 goals-against average.
Schumacher-Hodge started all 20 games for BU and finished with a fourth-best 10 points on the Terriers with three goals and four assists.
