Bearcats win battle of BUs

The Boston University women’s basketball team can only hope the next time they travel to the University of Binghamton for the America East Tournament, the result will be more Terrier-friendly. The Terriers (10-10, 2-5 America East) dropped their fifth conference game of the season Saturday to Binghamton, 70-64.

LETTER: Evergreens deserve respect

n I am shocked by the attitude of my peers at Boston University based on the article (“Evergreen program draws fire from distracted students,” Jan. 26, p. 1). The fact that seniors over 58 are enrolled in BU by the Evergreen Program has provided valuable assets to the BU community – experienced minds.

PERSPECTIVE: Beating the odds and the four-minute mile

Everyone knew this race could be special. After all, two runners – one, a professional – were seeded at less than four minutes. Even my grandmother knows this is superstar-fast for the mile-run. In eighth grade, anyone who broke six minutes became a gym-class god.

HINES: Having faith in apathy

Looking back at the student movements of the ’60s and ’70s, I realize how unfortunate it was that so many felt compelled to save their lives from an unjust war. Sure these movements were admirable, but think of all the time and energy involved. Now I’m not an economist, but I do enjoy balancing my checkbook on occasion.
