First game at helm produces butterflies
Rookie head coaches are usually nervous in their first game and Boston University lacrosse coach Liz Robertshaw was no exception. Although the No. 16 Terriers fell to the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, 13-11, Saturday afternoon in the season opener at Nickerson Field, snapping BU’s 22-game winning streak at home, there was something to be said for the fact that the team’s — and Robertshaw’s — first-game jitters have been settled.
Minutewomen’s late surge ruins BU’s streak
If Liz Robertshaw is to leave a legacy behind as head coach of Boston University’s women’s lacrosse program, her chance begins now. But that legacy got off to a rocky start, as the Terriers’ (0-1) 13-11 loss to the University of Massachusetts-Amherst Saturday afternoon was the first contest BU lost at home since the University of New Hampshire stifled the Terriers 7-6 on April 17, 2004.
Terriers clinch home ice
This could be a story about another lapse. It could be a story of unmet expectations and a severe case of doubt weighing heavy on the cusp of the postseason for the Boston University men’s hockey team. But it won’t be. Instead, it’s a story of fight and character, and most importantly, where those traits trace their roots.
Terriers clinch home ice
You can’t teach an old Terrier new tricks. With just one game remaining in the 2006-07 regular season, No. 5/6 Boston University took one step forward in a convincing 3-1 win over No. 17 Vermont at Agganis Arena Friday night, before falling back into the same funk Saturday in a 3-2 loss.
LETTER: Football would require fans
n Football is an issue that has been debated for years during my time here at Boston University (“The seats are there for you to fill, people,” Feb. 22, p. 16). Many students bemoan the lack of a football team and claim the lack of one is the reason for student apathy when it comes to school spirit.
