EDITORIAL: No money, no problem
Considering Gov. Deval Patrick is up against a $1.3 billion deficit while delivering the first proposed budget of his gubernatorial career, he appears to be accomplishing what he can with what resources are available. Even Patrick’s most ardent supporters during his campaign had to be aware that change cannot come in a flash.

Prof. says activists overlooked
The struggles of black civil rights activists in Boston’s history are often overlooked, said Tufts University associate professor Gerald Gill last night at the Massachusetts Historical Society. “Massachusetts is looked at as a liberal state now, but back then, it wasn’t,” Gill said.
BC students look to halt campus hate crimes
College students called for increasing awareness of campus hate crimes last night at a student-organized forum at Boston College. The group of mostly black and Asian college students discussed ways to prevent future occurrences on college campuses, which they speculated are provoked by racial ignorance and carelessness.
Student groups look to close global hunger gap
While they ate an international dinner, 153 Boston University students were educated about those around the world who go hungry every day. Hosted by four student groups seeking to build a small school in Sri Lanka with proceeds from the dinner, last night’s Hunger Banquet / International Dinner required some attendants to sit on the floor and some at tables, demonstrating the gap between lower and upper classes, said Master of Ceremonies Eddie Bernard.
