Before dwelling off-campus, check paperwork, realtors say
When students make the decision to move off campus, before they can start choosing what color to paint their rooms or where to put their John Belushi posters, it is essential for them to stay on top of piles of official paperwork and keep their eyes out for the red tape.
Even on campus, top rooms come at a premium
On-campus residences at Boston University can foster community living, but making sure that the price is right can be tricky. Starting next fall, dormitory-style residences will cost between $7,100 for a double, triple or quadruple occupancy room and $9,890 for a single with a private bath.
Social dorms and quiet pads line BU campus
Considering the many housing options provided on the Charles River campus, reading through Boston University’s housing selection list may stress students. Factors such as proximity to classes, in-dorm socialization, food variety and building conditions come into play while making the crucial where-to-live decision.
Fire safety a concern off campus
Although students who were planning on moving into off-campus housing near South Campus may be reconsidering their options after two fires in the past three weeks have claimed the lives of three students and injured another, realtors and fire safety experts say there are simple precautions students can take to keep them safe.
From Fenway to A-B, apt. choices varied
During the hunt for off-campus housing, the variety of neighborhoods Boston University students target for their searches each offer their own advantages, with the final decision ultimately coming down to students’ wallets. The affordable housing options of the Allston-Brighton area just beyond West Campus are generally attractive to BU students, real estate agents said.
