MIT dean resigns over resume lie
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology dean of admissions resigned yesterday after the school received a tip that three degrees she claimed on her resume were fabricated. Marilee Jones apologized to MIT leadership and her staff in a statement for “very regrettably” misleading the university about her academic credentials.
LYONS: Gillespie will be fine next season
Sure, it’s almost May, but there’s no such thing as a bad time to take a look at the state of our men’s hockey team here at BU. Like the Red Sox in Boston, there’s no offseason for the Icedogs when it comes to talking Terrier sports. Now that everyone has had time to get over the team’s early NCAA tournament exit against eventual national champion, Michigan State University, a look at what’s in store next October is always something fun to start thinking about.
Terriers ready for home-happy UMass
After sweeping three games from then-first-place University of Maryland-Baltimore County this weekend, the Boston University softball team’s schedule does not get any easier when they travel to University of Massachusetts-Amherst today. The Minutemen have won 15 games in a row and are in first place in the Atlantic-10 Conference, with a 12-0 mark to go along with their 26-12 overall record.
(Not so) Big Green
The Boston University women’s lacrosse team sent Dartmouth College back across the New Hampshire border on the short end of a 17-8 decision yesterday. The Terriers dominated the Big Green from the opening whistle, controlling possession for more than three-quarters of the game.
(Not so) Big Green
Thirty-one days ago, the outlook for the 2007 Boston University lacrosse season was rather bleak. The Terriers, one day removed from a 17-4 thrashing at the hands of top-ranked Northwestern University on March 25, were nursing a season-worst three-game losing skid while struggling to grasp any sliver of consistency as they approached the dawn of America East play.
