BU will become first team to play at Maine in ’07

Coming off a weekend sweep of then-conference leader, the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, the America East-leading Boston University softball team will be looking to bolster their chances of hosting the conference tournament when they close out the season series against the University of Orono in Maine today.

LETTER: Gun violence is what needs to be controlled

n “The Changing Gun Debate,” an article written by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in response to the recent tragedy at Virginia Tech, can be found in the April 30 issue of Newsweek. I applaud his insight and his efforts; Mayor Bloomberg is leading an uphill battle against gun crime.

LETTER: Darfur rally to be held in Boston Common

n Ninety-two years ago, 1.5 million Armenian men, women and children were slaughtered in a genocide which continues to be denied by its perpetrators, the Turkish government. The Armenian genocide is considered by most historians as the first genocide of the 20th century, yet it is not accepted as genocide by our very own country.

LETTER: Yunis’s heart should never have been questioned

n I was shocked to read someone doubting that president-elect Adil Yunis could have “even half as much heart as Mark DiCristofaro,” (“DiCristofaro deserved Student Union presidency,” April 23, p. 8). Let me preface this by saying that all candidates had a lot of heart.

n Now that the election is over, I thought I would take the chance to voice some of my thoughts. I first wanted to thank all of my friends, acquaintances and fellow peers who have enthusiastically reached out with all their support before, during and after my campaign for Student Union president with the Team Union Slate.
