LETTER: Union still works for students

After reading last week’s staff editorial (“Unified inefficiency,” Nov. 20, p. 6), I would like to respond on my own behalf about one of the concerns raised: communicating to the student body.

I’m almost 22 years old. Most people would call me an adult at this age. Many would say I’m now a man. How can I be a man, however, if I still can’t grow anything remotely close to a beard?

Despite some resistance from high schools, the good folks at the Common Application, those in charge of the your life from age 17 on, have gone ahead again with a revised form, which asks students about their criminal records and other past indiscretions.

STAFF EDIT: Biolab battles far from over

Just when the controversy over BU’s Level 4 Biosafety Laboratory seemed dead and buried, the respected National Research Council dealt the project another blow yesterday with a report that questioned a previous safety study and revived old fears that construction is being rushed without adequate safeguards.
