Winterfest brings alumni together to sculpt, eat

Boston University alumni and their friends and family chiseled away on large ice blocks Saturday at Winterfest 2009, creating frozen sculptures ranging from Rhett angrily chasing after Baldwin, the Boston College eagle, to am icy replica of Super Grover.

President Barack Obama’s $3.6 trillion budget will tie federal Pell Grants to inflation for the first time ever. As part of Obama’s budget proposal on education, this adjustment will give low-income college students financial aid that will reflect the state of the economy and the value of the dollar.

City asks Harvard for rationale

In a letter to Harvard University President Drew Faust on Thursday, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino called the university’s decision to slow Allston construction a ‘grave disappointment,’ demanding that Harvard meet with city officials within the next two weeks and justify its plan of action.
