Yip signs with NHL’s Colorado Avalanche
Recently graduated Boston University men’s hockey forward Brandon Yip has signed an entry-level contract with the National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche, according to an NHL.com report.
Family: Doherty questioned by police day before his death
Boston University student Patrick Doherty, who was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound last month near his hometown in Alaska, was allegedly threatened by police the day before his death to either testify against a lifelong friend or face felony charges.
Family and friends remember Doherty as caring, happy
The soccer unit in one Alaskan middle school’s gym class was at its end, and the students were to duke it out in a final tournament.
The teams were chosen in private in an effort to spare hurt feelings, and when it had come time to draft their first picks, the other captains went straight for their athletic classmates.
But not Patrick Doherty.

Recent BU grad dies in car accident
Boston University College of Arts and Sciences 2009 graduate Katie Tyson, a well-known leader and activist in both Spectrum and Boston’s Arlington Street Church, died earlier this month in a car accident in Colorado near the Wyoming border. She was 21.
BU sophomore found dead
Police found Boston University College of Arts and Sciences student Patrick Doherty dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound last month on a beach near his hometown in Alaska, police officials said.
