Yip signs with NHL’s Colorado Avalanche

Recently graduated Boston University men’s hockey forward Brandon Yip has signed an entry-level contract with the National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche, according to an NHL.com report.

Yip, a Vancouver, B.C., native, was taken in the eighth round (239th overall) by Colorado in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

A four-year starter at BU, Yip registered 108 points in 139 career collegiate appearances, including 43 points (20 goals, 23 assists) in 45 games during the Terriers’ 2008-09 season that culminated in the program’s first national championship since 1995.
