Victor Saponari to stay, earn SMG degree

Junior Victor Saponari, recently dismissed from the Boston University men’s hockey team, has decided he will remain at BU and earn his degree from BU’s School of Management.

“I’m a junior, going to be a senior in SMG,” Saponari said. “If I wanted to go play somewhere else, I’d lose a whole year. Is that really going to be beneficial to my future? Whether it’s after 15 years in the NHL or five years or whatever, every player’s time comes to an end at some point.”

Saponari finished his career with two points &-&- both assists &-&- in 14 games played for the Terriers. In 2009-10, Saponari registered one assist in three games.

Victor Saponari’s brother, Vinny Saponari, said Tuesday he was still weighing his options, but was considering redshirting next season and playing for another university in the future.
