BU prof. to appear on ‘Daily Show’

Boston University professor Mitchell Zuckoff will appear as a guest star on “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart on Wednesday evening to promote his new book.

Zuckoff’s book, “Lost in Shangri-La: A True Story of Survival, Adventure and the Most Incredible Rescue Mission of World War II,” tells the story of three officers’ survival after their plane crashed during a tour over the “Shangri-La valley” of New Guinea, according to Zuckoff’s site.

“I’m excited about the interview,” Zuckoff, a journalism professor, said during a phone interview on Tuesday. “But I’m supposed to play it cool.”

Since the nature of the show is spontaneous, Zuckoff said he will be going into the interview unscripted.

Zuckoff is a former reporter for The Boston Globe and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting. He has authored many other books, including “Judgment Ridge” with fellow College of Communication professor Dick Lehr.
