Campus crime logs

The following reports were taken from the Boston University Police Department crime logs from Sept. 26 to Oct. 2, 2011.

Busted

On Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. BUPD received a call from security at Mugar Memorial Library concerning a male who was seen trying to steal a laptop. The suspect, who is not affiliated with BU but lives in Boston, was watched by security until BUPD arrived on the scene to arrest him and recover the laptop.

Quick shave

At 7 p.m. on Sept. 29 a female student at 27 Aberdeen St. reported that somebody entered her apartment while she was gone during the day. She reported to BUPD that the area around her sink looked different and looked as if someone shaved in the bathroom and left. Her door was locked, and there was no sign of forced entry. Police did not find any suspects.

It’s electric!

On Oct. 1 BUPD responded to a fire alarm at 100 Cummington St. at 9:30 p.m. The Boston Fire Department was already on the scene. A small electrical fire that was caused by an overheated thermostat in room B59 and was put out shortly.

Watch yourself

At 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 2, a male BU student reported an assault in front of 957 Comm. Ave. The student and his friends reported getting off the T and accidentally bumping into a group of 15- to 17-year-olds. The group followed the student and his friends down the road and hit the student on his back with an unidentified object. His friends observed a puncture wound in his lower back. The student refused medical attention, and BUPD did not find the suspects, accused of assault with a dangerous weapon, because they fled the scene.
