This Saturday night two Parisians will take over Brighton Music Hall. Expect an eclectic mix of UK funky beats with maybe some tropical-house and minimal bass lines. French Fries and Bambounou are two up-and-coming producers whose beats have been heard ‘round the world. Together they headline the warm-up party for Together Festival, which will take place in Boston April 2-8.
French Fries, or Valentino Cazani, became a secret favorite among top DJs upon the release of “Senta,” which made its way into numerous DJ sets at Ultra: Miami 2010. According to his Facebook page, he was a resident DJ at La Favela Chic at just 14, had his first release at 16, and earned praise through his Arma EP when he was only 18. Throughout his growing career, he has dabbled in a wide array of electronic beats such as tribal, vogue house, and tropical, among others.
Both French Fries and Bambounou are signed to Youngunz record label, which is based in Paris. Not much is known about Bambounou, who, according to the Youngunz website, “appeared just like a storm in the desert.” With looping synth melodies and minimal, percussive bass lines, Bambounou’s approach to house is representative of today’s French electronic music scene.
It will be an interesting change of scenery for Brighton Music Hall, which typically showcases alternative and indie rock bands. Boston’s own DJs, Elkid, Fens, and Mzungu, will open up for French Fries and Bambounou. So check out Brighton Music Hall this weekend for a unique collection of sounds performed by producers who rarely make it across the Atlantic.
