Boston’s first homicide of 2013 takes place in Allston

Boston had its first homicide of 2013 committed in Allston when a man was fatally stabbed early in the morning  on Wednesday.

Boston police responded to a call at 2:43 a.m. of a person stabbed near 48 Pratt St., said Boston Police Department spokeswoman Neva Coakley.

Coakley said the male victim suffered from a stab wound and was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

The victim was later identified as Anthony Spaulding, a 21-year-old from Brighton, according to the BPD news blog.

The blog also stated, as a result of the ensuing investigation, Brian MacDonald, 24, of Boston has been charged with the murder of Spaulding.

MacDonald was arraigned yesterday but information on the arraignment has yet to be released.

“The crime is still being investigated and no new information has been released,” Coakley said.
