Campus Crime logs: Feb. 19 – Feb. 25

The following reports were taken from the Boston University Police Department from Feb. 19 to Feb. 25.

Suspicious package investigated, deemed not a threat

BUPD closed the area around the Life Science and Engineering Building at 24 Cummington Mall for two to three hours on Feb. 19, beginning at approximately 9 a.m. An employee reported receiving a suspicious package from a previously terminated employee. BUPD and Boston Police Department checked the package, which turned out to be a note and some chocolates.

Unauthorized purchase found on bank account

A 24-year-old female at 1079 Commonwealth Ave. reported on Feb. 19 that there were unauthorized transactions on her bank account. The victim said other fraudulent purchases using her account also occurred on Jan. 16. BUPD will investigate the incident.

Student cited for possession of marijuana

A 19-year-old male student was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana Friday at approximately 11:09 p.m. at Rich Hall at 277 Babcock St. The student was issued a citation for the possession.

Males videotape female without consent, summoned to court

BUPD received a complaint Friday at approximately 11:13 p.m. that two male students had attempted to videotape a female student without her permission. The incident was reported at Claflin Hall at 273 Babcock St. BUPD identified both male students, who will be summoned to Boston Municipal Court, Brighton Division.

Body of BU graduate student found on Charles River

BUPD received notification Friday by Massachusetts State Police at approximately 11:40 p.m. that a body had been found on the Charles River on the ice under the BU Bridge. The body was later identified as that of a BU graduate student. The incident is currently under investigation by State Police.

Five non-affiliates fight outside BU residence

BUPD responded to a fight outside 1019 Commonwealth Ave. on Sunday at approximately 3:16 a.m. Officers found two males engaged in a fight with two other males and a female. All five people were not affiliated with the university. BUPD placed two of the males under arrest for assault and battery.

Woman drives car off edge of Agganis Arena parking garage

A 41-year-old female not affiliated with the university drove her vehicle off the edge of the first floor parking garage underneath Agganis Arena at 925 Commonwealth Ave. on Saturday at approximately 9:40 p.m. There was a two-foot drop from the edge, and the vehicle needed to be towed out by a tow-truck. The extent of the damage is unclear at this point in time.
