Campus Crime Logs: March 19 – March 26

The following reports were taken from the Boston University Police Department from March 19 to March 26.

Student approached by alleged scam artist

A 26-year-old female student reported on March 19 at approximately 9:22 a.m. that a male individual approached her while she was on Brookline Avenue and asked for money to retrieve his car. The victim gave the person $40. A description of the suspect is not clear, but it is similar to that of a scam artist known to the target area.

Laptop stolen from office

A 24-year-old male not affiliated with the university reported at approximately 5:58 p.m. on March 19 that his laptop was missing from his office in the School of Management at 595 Commonwealth Ave. The office was left open during the time of the theft. No other items were reported missing.

Employee reports criminal harassment

Officers received a report about harassment on Friday at approximately 11:56 a.m. A 24-year-old female BU employee reported that a male not affiliated with the university threatened to send compromising photographs of her to her workplace. The address from where the employee reported the incident was not provided for confidentiality reasons.

Student found in possession of marijuana and alcohol
Officers received a report of drug and underage alcohol possession Friday at approximately 11:41 p.m. at Claflin Hall at 273 Babcock St. At the scene, they found a 19-year-old student with marijuana and alcohol. The student was referred to judicial affairs.

Motorist and bicycle accident occurs on Commonwealth Avenue

BUPD and the Boston Police Department responded to an accident Friday at approximately 5:08 p.m. that occurred at 635 Commonwealth Ave. An 18-year-old male driving a white Honda Accord struck an 18-year-old BU student on a bicycle. The student sustained injuries to the face and was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital for further treatment. The motorist has cooperated with law enforcement, and the accident is being investigated by BPD.
