BUPD gets three reports of indecent assault and battery

The Boston University Police Department is urging students to be aware while walking outside after three recent reports of indecent assault and battery, according to a Monday night BUPD email alert.

“The Boston University Police are asking for our community (sic) help in identifying this individual,” the alert stated. “Use caution when walking along and make sure you are alert as to your surroundings.”

There were three reports Monday evening of a male individual approaching females, groping them and then fleeing the area, according to the alert. The first assault occurred in the area of Chester Street and Ashford Street in Brighton around 4 p.m. The later incidents occurred between 855 Commonwealth Ave., the College of Fine Arts, and the BU Bridge, the alert stated.

Similar incidents were reported to have occurred near Ashford Street and Pratt Street Saturday, and have been reported to the Boston Police Department.

In all cases, the perpetrator was described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build, weighing approximately 165 pounds with very short hair.
