American brings back its leading scorer in Preseason All-League selection guard Jesse Reed from a squad that nearly earned its second-straight NCAA Tournament bid last season. Reed and junior Charlie Jones make up the only two returning starters for the Eagles, who shocked the conference when they reached the 2015 Patriot League Tournament final as a six seed.
Coach Mike Brennan’s side will hope to build upon its lockdown defense, which gave up fewer than 60 points per game throughout the 2014-15 campaign.
This season’s matchups: Jan. 13 at American, Feb. 10 at Case Gym

The Mountain Hawks nabbed the top spot in the Patriot League preseason poll, and with good reason. All five of coach Brett Reed’s top scorers from the 2014-15 team return, including the reigning Patriot League Player of the Year in forward/center Tim Kempton — who averaged 15.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game — and Rookie of the Year in guard Kahron Ross. Lehigh’s experienced core will aim to take the program to its sixth NCAA Tournament.

After a season that saw the Black Knights post a 6-12 conference record, the Black Knights appear ready to fight for a top conference spot in 2015-16. The 1-2 punch of seniors Kyle Wilson (17.5 points per game in 2014-15) and Tanner Plomb (15.8 points per game) should provide a formidable test for defensive units across the league. Rounding out Army’s crop of senior leaders are point guard Dylan Cox (10.1 points, 4.7 assists per game) and center Kevin Ferguson (5.7 rebounds, 1.5 blocked shots per game).
The Black Knight defense, anchored by Ferguson, will hope to use this wealth of experience to improve upon a unit that let up an average of 72.1 points per game last season.

Preseason All-Patriot League honoree senior guard Chris Hass leads the Bison, who captured the 2014-15 conference’s regular season title, but fell to Lafayette College in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament.
First-year coach Nathan Davis will have plenty of seasoned talent to work with, as all five starters and five of the team’s top six scorers from the 2014-15 campaign will once again don the orange and blue. Hass in particular has shown the ability to light it up from all spots on the floor, something BU coach Joe Jones’ squad knows all too well. In their two meetings last season, Hass torched the Terriers for 28 and 20 points, respectively.

  1. Your preview of Army makes no sense at all. Last year they had all five of their starters returning – and were picked for 2nd in the preseason poll. Hardly a rebuilding year. As it turned out, they played badly and had a couple of injuries. But they were NOT rebuilding.

This year they again return all five starters. And again they are not rebuilding. That will come next year.
