Fitness Tips for Average Chicks: The perfect workout for your sign

I am energized this week because I am an astrology nerd and it’s finally my season, Sagittarius season! My birthday is in a few weeks, and when it comes around, I plan on treating myself to some Flywheel and some CAVA, which is about to be so lit. However, that in and of itself is a very Sagittarius-y plan. So I thought to myself that I’d make this weeks fitness tips sign specific! Here we go…  

I’ll start with the season we’re in, Sagittarius. If you’re also a Sagittarius, you love adventure and you’re incredibly competitive! A fire sign ruled by Jupiter, you’re always moving. So for your workout routines, I would recommend doing something new and potentially competitive. Perhaps try training for a half-marathon, or better yet a Tough Mudder! Go to a pole-dancing class, do something a little out there. You’ll love it, and your body will love you for it.

Next we have Capricorn. This conservative, wise and realistic Earth sign is grounded in reality, and loves to relax. I would recommend yoga. Capricorns are ruled by Saturn, meaning they are trendy and aloof, so doing a yoga class would be the perfect fit for a Capricorn because of the individual nature of the course. There’s a fabulous hip-hop yoga class at Yoga Works in Allston that would vibe perfectly with this calm and cool sign.

That brings us to Aquarius. They’re visionaries, and as an air sign, they love being around people. For the energetic and sociable Aquarius, I would recommend participating in this thing called the November Project. It’s a free group workout organization that hosts get-togethers several times a week at the wee hours in the morning. Aquariuses will love the social nature of the workouts, and bring their enthusiastic free spirit too!

On to Pisces, my delicate and sensitive little fishy friends! Pisces are such sweet water signs who love profound conversations and intimacy. I would recommend that Pisces hit the pool and go for a swim. Often shy and reserved, the solitude of the pool with allow Pieces to take the time they need to reflect on the day, and they’ll feel right at home in the water.

For a strong, tough, courageous Aries, I would recommend a boxing class. Not only is boxing all the rage, but these tough little rams will absolutely thrive in the ring. Their perseverant nature combined with the fact that they are a fire sign will absolutely intimidate their opponent!

The Taurus might not want to exercise in a traditional way. For some of my best Taurus friends, shopping is their cardio, and that’s just fine! This Earth sign would probably enjoy taking a long walk on the Esplanade, in a stylish-yet-walkable outfit and call it a day.

Now we’re at Gemini, and frankly, I’m not even going to try to tell a Gemini what to do. I know that they probably already have a fitness routine, and if I told them to do anything, they’d likely do that exact opposite.

Cancers also don’t need my advice because they’re probably already your group fitness instructor or personal trainer. Often regarded as the zodiac sign that gives the best advice, you might already have a Cancer you turn to for fitness tips! I would recommend that if you’re a Cancer, take it to the next level. If you haven’t already, maybe try to become certified as a personal trainer, or take an instructor-level yoga class!

Sweet, humanitarian Leos always want to help out, and they can use that to their advantage when it comes to exercising. You’ll see a Leo getting their steps in by going to a river clean up or protesting the recent tax bill’s arctic drilling amendment. They’re passionate and kind and always ready to stand up and jog around for what they believe in.

Virgos — strong, powerful and independent — would be incredible powerlifters. Virgos are always channeling their energy into helping other people, so taking this time to have a singular focus on themselves is really what they need.

Libras should do an aerial silks dance class! They offer them at FitRec! Artistic, charming and graceful Libras will certainly thrive in this environment. As an air sign, Libras will love doing such a flowy and rhythmic form of exercise.

Kind of like Geminis, I’m weary of recommending a fitness routine to Scorpios. This water sign has got their routines on lock, and if you try and mess with that, you’ll probably suffer from the famous Scorpio sting.
