This letter is a response to both the ‘Stop source of Middle East violence’ letter to the editor by Fadwa Saad and the ‘Israel needs introspection’ letter by Michael Figa (Jan. 15, pg. 6; pg. 7).
It truly is amazing to me that people and, in particular, Muslims, can have so much contempt toward the Israeli army for a handful of Palestinian Muslim ‘brothers’ who get sporadically killed despite their probable associations with terrorism and prior murderous engagements. Yet when Saddam Hussein (just to use one fairly recent example) had the lovely idea to reintroduce Adolf Hitler’s utilization of the gaseous agent to successfully create a genocidal atrocity for more than a half a decade that murdered 2 million Iraqi Muslims, people don’t even hear a peep from these same pro-Palestinian empathizers. Why not? Where are the caring empathizers for the 2 million dead in Iraq? Why should outsiders pay so much tribute and give so much attention to a people who have acted absolutely atrociously in light of a coveted peace process, and not the blatant disposal of truly innocent masses of people in Iraq, not to mention similar humanitarian tragedies in Syria, Zimbabwe, China, Niger, Indonesia, Colombia, North Korea, etc.?
I find it extremely telling of these groups such as the Boston Coalition for Palestinian Rights that Mr. Figa supports or the socialist group Students for Justice in Palestine that bark and bitch daily about how Israel the worst human rights offender blew up some car with four known terrorists inside and displaced their supporting families. Of course this raving is all done with great partiality and a blind eye to the rest of the world.
These people and groups claim, ‘Justice! Justice!’ I claim, ‘Hypocrisy! Hypocrisy!’ I also claim the following to Ms. Saad and Mr. Figa: it is fine with me if you support domestic terrorism and a people who justify terror in terms of popular frustration and despair through outbursts of joy bordering on ecstasy at festivals for carnage. Just keep in mind that the once occupying country of Jordan deliberately killed with absolutely no defensive reasoning more Palestinians in about one month than Israel has altogether since 1948. Palestinian militants did not get to ‘reciprocate’ in Jordan as they have in Israel either. Not only are your comments in The Daily Free Press a testimony to the tremendous hypocrisy you both carry, but they are also a testimony to the bias and hypocritical groups that you stand by. Your perceptions toward the state of Israel would be comparable to singling out a black nation for de-legitimization without mentioning worse abuses by white nations. Please! And for all this, I have to read about Israel as the oppressor of oppressors toward the most well-treated Arabians in the entire Middle East with the most rights? Stop projecting all your hypocrisies on me concerning Israel’s treatment of your beloved ‘oppressed population.’
