ACS Development Corporation Leases 3,000 Square Feet to Zocalo Cocina Mexicana, Boston’s Newest Mexican Restaurant at 1414-1416 Commonwealth Ave. in Brighton, Mass.

Award-winning restaurateur to open third restaurant in busy Commonwealth Ave. location

CHELSEA, Mass. (Jan. 25, 2006)-ACS Development Corporation, a premier developer and owner of office, industrial, retail and residential properties, today announced that it has leased 3,000 square feet of space at 1414-1416 Commonwealth Ave. in Brighton, Mass., to Zocalo Cocina Mexicana, the third and largest restaurant owned and operated by award-winning restaurateur Ricardo Ramos. A grand opening will be held on January 30, 2006 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Dress for Success Boston, a not-for-profit organization that offers services to help low-income women enter the workforce and stay employed. Zocalo Cocina Mexicana, which signed a 10-year lease, has transformed the location, previously home to the well-known UVA, a Tuscan Italian restaurant, into one of Boston’s most authentic-looking Mexican restaurants, decorated with brightly colored walls, Mexican tiles and a myriad of authentic Mexican artifacts to help it have the look and feel of a warm and cozy version of a Mexican family home. The 3,000-square-foot restaurant will include space for a big eat-in bar, private dining room and a small Mexican market where all the decorative items on display in the dining room – masks, serapes, ceramic pitchers, and plates – will be sold. There are two kitchens in the space, one most likely to serve the big take-out business expected in the student-heavy neighborhood.

“We are very excited to open this restaurant and bring our authentic Mexican food to this busy and diverse neighborhood,” said Mr. Ramos. “The location is a great fit for us and we think Zocalo, with its great food, great price and energy — will be an excellent match for this neighborhood.”

Mr. Ramos also owns and operates the very successful and award-winning Zocalo Cocina Mexicana in Arlington Center, and Andale, a take-out version, at 125 Summer St. in Boston.

“We think Zocalo will be a tremendous success,” said Patricia Simboli, a principal of ACS Development Corporation. “We had many qualified operators who wanted to open in this location, but in the end we felt that Ricardo had the winning combination of experience, success, vision and, most of all, likeability. We are very excited about his concept and his tenancy.”
