When Dennis Wolff took over the helm of the Boston University men’s basketball team on April 7, 1994, he was “excited,” despite the fact that the Terriers had undergone four straight losing seasons.
“This professionally is a good opportunity and something that I hope to be able to have for a while,” he told The Daily Free Press at the time.
Twelve years and 200 wins later, Wolff can’t see himself leaving.
“Sometimes now I can’t picture myself coaching anywhere else,” said Wolff minutes after he captured his 200th victory at BU in the Terriers’ 54-40 win over the University of Hartford last night at The Roof.
“I had moved so much as an assistant coach,” Wolff said. “I think when I came here, I had a four to five year contract the first time. I just wanted to do the best that I could. Then it evolved into four, four became five, five became six or seven.”
And seven became 12. Now Wolff’s record at BU stands at 200-144, and he has the most wins in the history of the program.
