Another BU student who lives in the apartment told police he saw at least three men “crash his party and assault the victims.” He said he did not know the suspects personally, but he thinks they are Northeastern University students and friends of neighboring residents.
The three victims told police they were each punched by an unidentified man. One victim was allegedly punched in the mouth, damaging his teeth, another was punched in the head, causing a cut above his left eye, and the third victim was punched in the head but did not suffer any injuries.
MAIL ORDER PHARMACY
District 14 police, Massachusetts State Police and a United States postal inspector made a drug bust at the post office at 448 Washington St. in Brighton at about 4:15 p.m. on Jan. 30.
Police arrested Roger Leach, 31, of 105 Juniper St. in Belmont, when he signed for a box addressed to John McCue of 9 Brackett St. in Brighton, which police knew to be a fake name. Leach allowed officers to open the box, which reportedly contained 77 bottles of steroids.
Leach then reportedly told police there were approximately 20 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle he drove to the post office. Police opened the trunk and “smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from a large blue nylon bag, which contained 19 large plastic bags weighing approximately one pound each, containing green vegetable matter believed to be marijuana.”
Police also found $9,406 and “drug notes” in the car as well as $1,750 on Leach’s person.
Leach later allowed officers to search his residence, where they found $2,000, 22 bottles of “assorted liquid steroid, numerous needles and syringes and 185 white pills embossed ‘C’ on one side.” All of the drugs confiscated were sent to the state food and drug lab for analysis. The $13,156 and a cellular phone seized from Leach were held by the postal inspector.
Leach was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He was picked up within 1,000 feet of Shaloh House School, 29 Chestnut Hill Ave.
OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE
CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR
A fight broke out at The Kells, a bar at 161 Brighton Ave. in Brighton, at about 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 31, causing one of the fight’s participants to get into a scuffle with the bar’s bouncers.
The victim told police he “had an altercation with an unknown patron of the bar” and was punched in the face. He said two bouncers broke up the fight, “threw him down and then threw him out the back door into the alley.” He said he then grabbed the mirror of a pickup truck to get up and two of the bouncers allegedly “charged at him and beat him up.” The victim’s girlfriend told police she saw the bouncers “throw her boyfriend to the ground” and punch and kick him in the head. She could not identify which bouncer allegedly assaulted the victim.
One of the bouncers told police they broke up the fight and sent the men out different doors. He said the victim attempted to “spin away from them” and then fell and hit his head on the ground. The bouncer said they waited a few minutes to see if he had left and saw the victim trying to rip the mirror off of a pickup truck parked behind the building. Both bouncers said they tackled the victim and he tried to fight them.
Police issued The Kells a license premise violation and the victim was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for treatment of facial lacerations.
Police told all parties involved that they could seek criminal complaints in the matter.
COLLECTION BOX CROOK
An unidentified man allegedly attempted to steal money out of the “candle offering” box at St. Anthony’s Church at 43 Holton St. in Allston at about 11:15 a.m. on Jan. 31. The suspect was described as a 5-foot 11-inch 16-year-old black, non-Hispanic male with black hair and a muscular build.
A Catholic brother called police after he noticed a black mountain bike outside the side door of the church and saw the suspect tampering with the box and attempting to remove money from it. The suspect allegedly ran out the front doors of the church when he noticed the brother watching.
An officer found scratch marks near the key hole of the box and “two pieces of what appeared to be large metal curtain rings, bent as to allow them access into the money slot.” The officer also found a quarter lying on the banister.
The bicycle, curtain rings and quarter were seized as evidence.
