Pop quiz: Which BU winter sports team was the only one to win its post-season conference championship last year? If you guessed women’s basketball, you are correct.
Let’s not forget that our school has two extremely successful basketball teams. On Wednesday night, the women’s team is looking to tie the school record for consecutive wins set over 20 years ago. The game features a rematch of last season’s America East Championship in which BU upset Maine to reach the NCAA tournament. The recognition that the men’s team has received this year has been very deserving and it’s about time that this school rallied around Coach Wolff’s program, but the women need your support too.
On Saturday, the team beat Vermont in Burlington for the first time in 15 years – coming back from a 16-point halftime deficit to win by 15, in what was one of the greatest sporting events I’ve ever witnessed. “The Roof” can provide a tremendous home-court advantage and I strongly encourage you to make this week’s game at 7 p.m. a priority on your schedules. If you live in West Campus, there really is no excuse not to be there. For everyone who says Boston University has no school spirit, prove them wrong by cheering on your Terriers on Wednesday night.
