An 18-year-old CVS employee was fatally stabbed and another wounded Monday at about 9:10 p.m. at the CVS on the corner of Brookline and Longwood avenues in the Longwood Medical Area after an altercation with a shoplifting suspect, according to Boston Police.
Christian Giambrone of Jamaica Plain died from his injuries after being taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
The second CVS employee was seriously injured. The 32-year-old man was taken to Beth Israel Hospital and was in stable condition, according to a BPD press release. His identity is being withheld because he is a witness to the murder of his fellow employee.
The two employees had followed the suspected shoplifter out of the store and onto the sidewalk where he allegedly stabbed them. The suspect fled and attempted to enter neighboring buildings, eventually ending up in the Shapiro Out-Patient Building in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, police said.
Once inside the building the suspect went upstairs, where he removed his “red jacket and dark colored knit hat,” leaving them in the building as he fled, according to the press release.
Police are reviewing surveillance tapes to provide a better description of the suspect, who is now identified only as a black male.
