The following reports were taken from the Allston-Brighton District D-14 crime logs from April 1-8.
At around 11 p.m. on April 6, a Kells Bar employee reported to her manager she found a Glock .45 gun in a jacket. The manager recovered a full magazine of .45 caliber ammunition and an iPod with an engraved nickname of another bar employee. The manager questioned the suspect, a Boston University student and member of the Air Force ROTC, who admitted the firearm belonged to him and agreed to go to the police. The suspect showed a license to carry the firearm to officers, who then secured the weapon.
A FRIEND INDEED
A radio call at around 2:30 a.m. April 7 alerted police of a cardiac arrest on Commonwealth Avenue. En route, the dispatchers said the call was actually for alcohol poisoning, and upon arrival, the victim was conscious but had difficulty breathing. The victim reported consuming 10 alcoholic beverages during the course of a few hours, attributing the negative reaction to asthma. The victim’s roommates said the victim had been unconscious and had no pulse, but one of the roommates revived the victim by performing CPR on her. The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.
STRANGE BEDFELLOWS
A 20-year-old man filed an assault and battery report against his roommate April 3 after the suspect kicked in the victim’s bathroom door and pushed him. The victim said he had just gotten out of the shower and the floor was wet, causing both parties to slip and fall. The victim said the accused attacker thought he was taking too long in the bathroom.
SPEAK SOFTLY . . .
Police officers responded to a radio call at around 8 p.m. April 2 for an assault and battery in progress at Avenue Bar on Commonwealth Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found that the fight had moved up the street. Police officers followed and found the suspects. One of the suspects had a brown belt in his hand, while the other suspect held a bloodstained stick approximately two-and-a-half feet long. A victim approached the police with a bruised and bloodied face. The two suspects were placed in the police cruiser.
A witness told police all parties involved were at the Avenue Bar when the suspects and the victim got into a verbal altercation. The witness left with the victim 20 minutes after the management told the suspects to leave, but he ran into the suspects again. After another verbal altercation, one of the suspects began to beat the victim on the head with the stick.
Another witness gave the police a different story, saying the altercation started when the victim called the suspects “gay.” The suspects then called the victim “gay.” The witness said she left voluntarily with the suspects to go to Our House Bar farther down Commonwealth Avenue. When they left Our House, the witness said the suspects had to go to the witness’s car parked near Avenue Bar but ran into the victim, who was carrying the stick, according to the witness.
