The Boston University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field team had a busy weekend, competing in multiple events across the country. The Terriers raced in the Mount San Antonio College Relays in Walnut, Calif., and the Husky Spring Invitational held at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Conn.
Senior Jake Laroe registered the top time for the Terriers at Mt. SAC, placing third in the 1500m with a time of 3:49.62. Seniors David Proctor and Patrick Hoye also earned Top 10 finishes.
At the Husky Spring Invitational, the women’s team placed first in six events, most notably senior Tahari James, who set the fourth best triple jump distance for the BU recordbooks at 13.64m. James also placed third in the 100m, finishing in 12.20. Sophomore Whitney Ford won the long jump with a distance of 5.87m. Fellow sophomore Fiona Romeri won the pole vault with a distance of 3.50m.
The women had two entrants in the 4x100m race, and the teams placed second and third. The second-place finish of 46.68 seconds set a new school record. BU’s 4x400m team placed second with a time of 3:55.61 seconds. Junior Becky Marshburn and senior Megan LaBella placed in the Top 10 in 100m hurdles. Marshburn also finished fourth in the 400m hurdles, while senior Jessica Cickay won the 3000m.
For the men’s team, sophomore Jan Bicanic won the discus competition with a 51.30m throw. Freshman Dan Winthrow, senior Dan Martin and sophomore Logan Moore all finished the Top-10 of the competition, placing third, fifth and eighth, respectively. Bicanic also finished third in the hammer throw with a 47.78m toss, while Martin earned third place in the shot put with a distance of 14.67m.
Junior Jun Dambara finished second in the high jump with a 1.89m leap, senior Chadd Steinhauser took third in the 400m race with a time of 49.69 seconds and senior Nick Goodman placed third in the 1500m race, finishing in 3:56.83. In the 5000m, junior Tom McLean and senior Albert Crooker took fifth and sixth, respectively.
The men’s team placed third in the 4x100m race with a time of 42.82 seconds, while finishing second in the 4x400m in 3:24.96.
