For those living in the Student Residences at 10 Buick St., the days of tin foil and rabbit ears seem to be gone.
Numerous students moving into the Student Village said Monday that they found functional cable television in their rooms.
Student Union President Jon Marker confirmed that cable is on its way to campus, but was unsure whether it had been installed.
“Cable is on the way, it’s just a matter of actually getting the wiring in, which there’s no definite time frame for,” Marker said Monday.
Marker said the cable committee is finishing up contracts with Comcast to work out the details. Comcast spokesman Marc Goodman confirmed in April that the cable company was working with BU.
Eden Kasle, a senior in the College of Communication, said he was flipping through channels after moving in Monday when he stumbled across Discovery, CNN, TNT and USA.
Kasle, who was one of numerous students who confirmed the existence of cable, said he suspected the cable was left over from July’s Democratic National Convention. Some convention guests stayed in the Student Village.
Boston University Spokesman Colin Riley said he could neither confirm nor deny the existence of cable on campus.
A cable committee, composed of six administrators and five students, began meeting last semester and throughout the summer to discuss bringing cable to campus.
In April, Dean of Students Kenneth Elmore said cable television could hit campus as early as this fall.
He could not be reached for comment Monday.
