Christopher Brinker 314-708-4844 CGS ’06 Resident of Bay State Road
Bay State Road is haunted by a specter, no, a poltergeist that is even more unnaturally loud and disturbing. This dark shade is really not so invisible. There is at least one in every brownstone and probably ten or fifteen in the CGS house. This evil haunter of the night is the selfishness and thoughtlessness of the people who don’t deserve to be here. The people who feel it necessary to cry out a friend’s name at 11:30 on a school night. The people who like to advertise the fact that their car can go 45 mph in first gear at midnight. You know the people I mean. They don’t take any of this seriously. They are not concerned with their GPA, or academia in general. They aren’t here, like you or I, to improve their education, to make and investment in their future. They are here to enjoy themselves. This enjoyment is usually at the expense of the peace of all around them who have to suffer the consequences of their moronic actions. What should we do with these imbeciles? These veritable stains on the shawl of education? Don’t put up with it. Give them hell. Make them go out of their way to have a good time. Don’t let them get to you. Maybe they will leave BU in peace and find a place where their drunken stupor and midnight exclamations would simply join the throng of other students whose intellectual and emotional development stopped at the age of fifteen. Just as the reverberations of a screaming engine disturb our sleep so too will our actions of isolationism and constant watchfulness for their weaknesses of alcohol, drugs, and stupidity to betray them to the hands of the authorities who make their actions pay consequences. It’s time to start taking names and kicking asses! Don’t put up with midnight revilers outside your window the night before your early class anymore. Tell them they aren’t wanted here. Tell them they don’t belong here. Tell the campus police that they are being disorderly and disturbing. Together, those of us on Bay State Road may finally make it a place where one can sleep at night.
