The following were taken from the Allston-Brighton crime reports.
Two men were arrested for public drinking and disorderly conduct during the time of the Boston Marathon.
Officers were on patrol near six apartments at 1942 Beacon St. in Brighton, where the incident took place at about 11:45 a.m. on Monday. They reportedly observed about 15 people exit the residence, all of whom were “drinking beer from plastic cups.” Officers informed the people that drinking was not allowed in public and they must discard their beers. All but Thomas Burns, 20, of 350 Beech St. in Kearny, N.J., obeyed officers’ orders. Burns was arrested and charged with public drinking.
Twenty more people then reportedly exited the building while drinking beer, and officers said they observed “numerous people hanging out apartment windows on all floors with music blaring from several of the apartments.” Officers reportedly entered the crowded building and deemed the number of people in the hallways of the residence a risk in the event of a fire. The hallways were reportedly cleared and the occupants of all the apartments were issued a warning for their disorderly behavior.
David Healy, 21, of 1942 Beacon St., allegedly “loudly protested the seizure of a keg found in the hallway” in front of one of the apartments. Officers said they told Healy the keg was seized because they had not determined its owner. Healy reportedly told officers it was his keg, thus admitting he had provided the beer to all the people in the building.
Healy reportedly continued to demand his keg be returned, which caused a crowd to gather and tell the officers to give Healy his keg. Healy was arrested and charged with keeping a disorderly house. Officers seized the keg and said they would determine the “true owner.”
TAKING OUT THE TRASH A Hanover man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for dragging “bundles of trash” into a roadway at 2:30 a.m. on Friday.
The incident occurred outside of the residence at 152 Harvard Ave. in Allston. Sean M. Johnson, 23, of 17 Old Town Way in Hanover, allegedly dragged the bundles from in front of the residence and placed them in the travel lane of Harvard Avenue. Officers reportedly instructed Johnson to remove the trash from the road, to which he replied, “What trash?”
After several attempts to get Johnson to remove the trash, Johnson reportedly yelled insults to the officers, prompting them to get out of their cruiser to arrest him.
Johnson allegedly resisted arrest by making his body limp and “using his dead weight as passive resistance.” The officers were eventually able to lift Johnson into their cruiser and transport him for booking. Additional officers were required to hold Johnson’s limp arm and hand for fingerprinting as he was being booked.
NEEDING THE NIC A South Boston man was arrested after attempting to steal a case of cigarettes, valued at $1,050, from a delivery truck parked on Brighton Avenue.
David M. Andrews, 36, of 350 W. 4th St. in South Boston, allegedly took the case of cigarettes out of a truck making a delivery to Store 24 at the corner of Harvard Street and Brighton Avenue at about 12:20 p.m. on Friday. One of the truck drivers reportedly witnessed Andrews take the case and told the other driver.
As Andrews began to drive away, the victims said they approached his vehicle, reached into the open driver’s side window and pulled him out of the moving vehicle. The victims reportedly struggled with the suspect, who suffered “minor scrapes” to his arms and hands, until police arrived on the scene.
When police asked Andrews whose car he was driving, he reportedly said, “I don’t know. The keys were in it. I just took it.” Police later discovered the vehicle was stolen and Andrews was driving with a revoked license. Police also discovered “a small rock of brown-colored substance believed to be heroin” and two hypodermic needles in the vehicle.
