I would like to applaud the Boston University Student Union for finally realizing a long-time student goal and progressing with a campaign for a campus TV station. While I’m disappointed this lofty goal wasn’t realized while I held Union office, I sincerely commend the current leadership. Their creation of an amazing reality series is nothing short of brilliant. Forgery. Embezzlement. Controversial interior design. We get the drama of “The Real World,” the conspiracy theory of “The Mole,” and the backstabbing of “Survivor.’ Good thing the cast won’t need the help of the Fab Five since the Union men are hooked up when it comes to haute couture, sassy attitudes and very expensive taste.
By the way, I’m pleased to see this expensive taste is influencing the Union’s design the design of a new Union banner. As your former public relations officer, I fully understand the power of a quality logo. One question though: What kind of font costs $1,000? I hope it’s the e-vite font with the letters that dance to Mexican disco. Then the logo will truly have the potential to prove this year’s Union is a legitimate organization, not some incompetent body polluted with egotistical, wannabe politicians ruining things for the students who genuinely want to positively impact the campus.
I also want to applaud the E-Board for the immense amount of time they must have invested in the Union this past summer. Students need to quit questioning the necessity of that summer parking pass! The E-Board’s dedication over break is obvious if you just consider how much they’ve accomplished so early into the school year. After one measly meeting, they have brought the entire Union to a crumble. Hell, by this time last year it would’ve been impossible to ask for any resignations because we hadn’t even had enough time to learn anyone’s name.
Congratulations Student Union: you have accomplished a great feat. It makes my family and me proud to have served with so many intelligent, important, promising politicians during my precious college years. And even if BU students never come to trust or respect you as much as I do, you’ll always have the Northeastern University student body president’s pledge of unconditional support from arguably the most prestigious safety school in New England. Keep in touch, and let me know how I can contribute to your efforts for the new TV station, as well as the campaign for your easy re-election.
