I am an Emerson student who happened upon the Friday, September 27 edition of the Daily Free Press, and I was pleased to read Neil Dempsey’s vividly creative take on Iraq. His supplication of little-known facts, combined with an obvious talent for fiction and journalism writing made for a compelling read.
I logged onto the Daily Free Press website to scope out Dempsey’s archived articles, and was similarily impressed. It’s uncommon to see such talent flowing through a college.
I also write for Emerson College’s Berkeley Beacon, and I have “read” said newspaper for the three years I’ve attended Emerson. I’ve gotta say it: The Berkeley Beacon does not have the talent and ingenuity in its staff as the Daily Free Press does – especially with Dempsey’s weekly contributions.
Maybe I should write that cunning bastard a letter and try to coax him to write for us. But he’d probably be insulted by the lack of skill, coordination, and teamwork that manifests itself like anthrax on the Beacon newsroom.
Keep up the good work. And give that man a raise.
