Something about Reporters Right to Protect Their Source
I believe the identity of the “source” that provides evidence of criminal doings can be protected providing the reporter subsequently uncovers other independent information that confirms the story provided by his “source”.
I believe the Constitution requires that the accused has the right to face his accuser. Therefore the reporter must reveal his source if no other collaborating information is discovered.
It must be obvious that unqualified protection of the “source” would put many of us in jail based on unsubstantiated gossip.
