The Children’s Museum of Boston defines education at its best. Marked by a 40-foot milk bottle near South Station, it encompasses science, culture, art, history and athletics while providing hands-on experiences for the developing mind or those who refuse to grow up. Art projects, science experiments, bubble making, dungeons and dragons, theatrical performances and all forms of toys make up three colorfully decorated floors. Signs teach children about gravity, measurements, nutrition and cultural differences. Highlights include the Clifford and Arthur exhibits and Boston Black, a black neighborhood simulation including an outdoor café showing a Spanish dance video, a barbershop and the Pico Durate Market, an interactive supermarket featuring a spice-smelling station. The Recycle Shop sells knick-knacks worthy of a child’s pocket change but beware, admission is anything but pocket change – except for maybe $1 Friday nights between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. m
