It’s the Only Time of Year this City is Cool:
Salem Haunted Happenings From North Station, take the Rockport/Ipswich Commuter Line Salem, Mass
Undoubtedly the best place to live and breathe Halloween. Walk through Dracula’s Castle, Salem’s spookiest haunted houses, eat candied apples at the Salem Marketplace and watch a witch trial reenactment at the Witch Dungeon Museum. Also hit up the Salem Wax Museum of Witches and Seafarers and the Salem Witch Museum. Halloween is like Salem’s Mardi Gras, a three-week festival that will reach its peak tonight. The streets of the Witch City are guaranteed to be a huge party, filled with side-show-like spectacles and drunken ghoulishness.
Get Down with Your Spooky Self:
Love Night Halloween Costume Ball The Common Ground, 10 p.m. 85 Harvard Ave., Allston 617-783-2071
Completely uncoordinated, Seinfeld’s Elaine-esque dancers will find the Common Ground a veritable safe haven on Halloween night. For once, it’s OK to look like a freak. Dress up and boogie with your scary self. Just don’t expect to recognize the random face next to your pillow in the morning. BOO.
Rock Out, and Frighten Others in the Process:
Halloween Spooktacular Harper’s Ferry, 8p.m., $10 158 Brighton Ave., Allston 617-254-9734
The evening features jam rockers Spookie Daly Pride in costumes with a French theme. Tres chic, no? The Ben Taylor Band is slated to play, and all costumes are encouraged. French maids are likely to be given the warmest welcome.
80s Movies Are Always Terrifying-and It’s Not just Molly Ringwald’s Outfits:
Evil Dead 2 The Brattle Theatre, 7:30 p.m., $7 40 Brattle St., Cambridge
Angry, undead people eating their own severed heads are hilarious! Bruce Cambell puts on one of his best and funniest performances in this cult classic hit. This flick is a superb way to pass the early evening before the witching hour strikes. Sclock-shock terror just never gets boring. Groooooooooovy.
