This is concerning the opinion article written by Santino Carnevale, CAS ’05, “New York? Give me a break”
If you tell me that Boston, and other big cities doesnt have prositution, drugs, pollution and all that other bad stuff, I would have to say that you are either lying through your teeth, or you are naive and just plain stupid. Saying that people from New York shouldnt be proud of their city is way beyond the limits of stupidity. Why shouldnt they be proud?? Its a great city. When you judge a city by its negative aspects, you miss out on things that are great about the city. Things that you FAIL to mention in your article are the wonderful thing such as their museums, broadway, the fact that the city can house so many people of different cultures, the fact that they can all band together after the tragedy of 9/11. Judging New York by the bootleg videos in Chinatown, or the millions of bars on every corner, or their bagels shows that you have not seen the culture that New York has to offer. Its the same as saying Boston is a horrible town because of the Big Dig that has been going on forever and is billions over budget, or its famous clam chowder that really isnt that good. To the simple minds this is all Boston is about. Next time you shoot your mouth off about something, try to stop being so narrow minded and see the beautiful things that New York has to offer.
