Created to capitalize on the success of the great team of Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane in the Broadway show, as two producers who attempt to strike it rich by intentionally putting up a Broadway “flop,” this film keeps other members of the very funny original Broadway cast. New additions to the cast include Will Ferrell, who brings his usual goofiness to the film as a Nazi playwright. If you are unfamiliar with the other two versions, you will thoroughly enjoy this film. If not, you may find yourself wondering why yet another rendition of this overly famous story was completely necessary.
